Institute for Computational and Data Sciences

AI-Powered Seminar Series - April 22

11:00 AM - 1:00 PM / April 22, 2026

The Penn State Institute for Computational and Data Sciences (ICDS) is hosting the AI-Powered Materials Seminar Series, a three-part series that will take place on Wednesday, April 22; Tuesday, April 28; and Friday, May 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Pollock Dining Commons, Room 204. Lunch is provided.

These seminars aim to bring together Penn State faculty, students and staff members with expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) who seek to collaborate on materials research problems.

Penn State faculty members will present different types of materials research problems at each seminar event. The goal of this series is to pair the presenters with at least one collaborator by the end of the series.

April 22 presenters include:

  • Christos Argyropolous, associate professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, presenting "AI-Powered Topology Optimization of Quantum Metamaterials."

  • Reginald Hamilton, associate professor of engineering science and mechanics, presenting "Learning Thermoelastic Character: A Multimodal Processing-Structure-Property-Performance Framework for Shape Memory Alloy Design."

Registration is required to attend. Registration can be done via this Google Form.
