ALTOONA, Pa. — Two students from Penn State Altoona's Integrated Social Science Research Lab (ISSRL) presented at the recent annual conference of the Northeastern Association of Criminal Justice Sciences (NEACJS) held in Dewey, Delaware.
Ally Black and Liliana DeMarco, both seniors in the criminal justice program, presented their project "The Use of Evidence-based Law Enforcement Strategies to Fight the Opioid Epidemic in Pennsylvania: An Exploratory Study."
Black and DeMarco work with Nathan Kruis, assistant professor of criminal justice and co-adviser of the ISSRL, on the project and are preparing to submit a report on their findings to the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs.
The project is part of a funded study that Kruis is working on at Penn State Harrisburg's Douglas W. Pollock Center for Addiction Outreach and Research.
