The Penn State Provost Academic Award

The Provost Academic Award is offered annually to first-time, first-year students who are residents of Pennsylvania and enroll in a baccalaureate degree at Penn State University Park for the fall semester immediately following their high school graduation. Transfer students are not eligible to receive the award.

There is no additional application to be considered for the Provost Academic Award. We evaluate students for this award based on your admission and financial aid information.

Award Amounts

Award amounts vary based on a student’s academic profile, level of demonstrated financial need and the amount of other institutional grants and scholarships they receive.

Award Eligibility

  • First-year, first-time undergraduate students must:

    • Be a full-time student (twelve or more credits each semester)

    • Enroll in a Baccalaureate Degree program

    • Enroll at any campus other than Penn State World Campus

    • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher at the end of the spring semester

    • Complete at least 24 credits at the end of the spring semester

    • Be a non-resident of Pennsylvania

    • Be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident

    • File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and a have a demonstrated financial need

Renewing Your Provost Academic Award

To remain eligible for the Provost Academic Award, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You change your campus to Penn State World Campus

  • You receive the University grant-in-aid discount as the child of a Penn State employee

  • You are determined to be ineligible based on your demonstrated financial need from filing the (FAFSA)

  • You are charged the Pennsylvania resident tuition rate

Awarding Timeline

Eligible first-year students who are residents of Pennsylvania and have an offer to Penn State University Park will be considered for the Penn State Academic Award through May 1.
