DALLAS, Pa. — Ryan Denicola has been named coordinator of facilities, recreation and intramurals at Penn State Wilkes-Barre, Interim Director of Student Services and Engagement Tracy Garnick has announced.
In his role, Denicola will oversee daily operations of the campus’ Athletics and Recreation Building. He will supervise recreation facility staff, coordinate intramural and recreational programming and opportunities for the campus community, manage facility scheduling and rentals, and support a safe and welcoming environment.
Denicola’s appointment is for one year. Penn State Wilkes-Barre will remain open through the 2026-27 academic year.
“Ryan brings enthusiasm and a commitment to student engagement and recreation, and we are excited to have him join our team,” Garnick said.
Denicola also brings experience to his new role, having worked in athletics at Penn State Hazleton during his time as a student there. He assisted with various sports and intramurals on campus and served as a lifeguard. Denicola graduated in spring 2026 with a bachelor’s degree in business.
“My previous job at Penn State Hazleton gave me a good foundation for this position,” Denicola said. “I look forward to establishing a community of activities where memories, friendship and teamwork exist. I hope to establish healthy and fun activities for all students.”
Updates about the reopening of the gym and recreational facilities will be forthcoming as Denicola settles into his new role.
