UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — PSUAlert is Penn State's emergency notification system, designed to inform students and employees about critical situations that pose immediate and/or ongoing threats to the community; events that impact campus operations (e.g., closures); and other urgent information.

All Penn State students and employees with a Penn State email address automatically receive PSUAlerts via email. However, they are encouraged to visit psualert.psu.edu and use the yellow “Manage My Alerts” button to update their settings and opt-in to also receive text message and/or phone call alerts. While PSUAlert is primarily for Penn State students and employees, users may add contact information for parents, guardians or other family members. Additionally, users can choose to receive alerts for multiple Penn State campuses.

Local community members without a Penn State email address can view PSUAlert messages by visiting psualert.psu.edu and selecting a specific campus to view alerts online.

Timely warnings

In addition to PSUAlerts, Penn State University Police and Public Safety also issues "timely warnings" to alert the campus community about reportable crimes as defined by the Jean Clery Act.

When these crimes occur within Penn State’s Clery geographic area and pose serious or continuing threats to the community, timely warnings are automatically distributed to students and employees via their Penn State email addresses. Local community members without Penn State email addresses can view timely warning messages by visiting timelywarnings.psu.edu and selecting a specific campus to view alerts online.
