UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Transportation Services is informing students of an upcoming change to campus parking at University Park that will affect overnight storage availability beginning this summer.
As construction begins on a new on-campus student housing project, Lot 83 will experience a reduction in capacity starting in summer 2026. As a result, off-campus student overnight storage parking will be reduced by approximately 20%. This reduction will limit the number of Lot 83 permits available for students living off campus for the 2026–27 academic year and future years. The number of Lot 83 permits for students living on campus is expected to remain unchanged for the upcoming academic year.
Due to the reduced availability, Transportation Services strongly encourages students living off campus who plan to keep a vehicle on campus overnight to explore alternative parking solutions well in advance of the fall 2026 semester.
Fall/spring student parking permit sales for the 2026–27 academic year are expected to begin the week of Aug. 10. With most overnight storage parking on campus typically selling out quickly, ahead of permit sales, students are encouraged to review a list of off-campus overnight and storage parking alternatives on the Student Parking page of the Transportation Services website.
Off-campus students may continue to purchase a Commuter permit; however, this permit does not allow overnight parking. No parking is allowed in the Commuter lots from 2-4 a.m.
