University Park

Summer 2026 student parking registration begins May 4

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — University Park student parking registration for summer 2026 will be available exclusively online at the Transportation Services website beginning Monday, May 4, at noon.

All students, regardless of semester standing, are eligible to register for summer parking. Graduate students not enrolled in classes are also eligible to purchase a student parking permit.

Summer permits will be prorated at the beginning of each week, and the current prorated rate will appear at checkout.

Student Permit options

During the summer sessions, students may purchase a permit for one of the lots listed below, based on their residence status:

On-Campus Residents:

  • Lot 11 – White Course Apartment Residents
  • Lot 82 – All residence areas
  • Lot 83 – All residence areas
  • WDS-West Deck – All residence areas

Off-Campus Residents:

  • SCR-Student Commuter
  • Lot 83 (overnight storage)
  • YAS-West Deck (overnight storage)

Note: Permit holders who plan to leave campus for an extended period but leave their car on campus should leave their keys with someone who will remain in town in case of an emergency or construction project where the vehicle would need to be moved.

Requirements

  • Active Penn State ID and Access account
  • Enrolled in summer courses
  • License plate(s) information (vehicles must be owned by the student or a member of the student's immediate family)

General registration

Any students encountering issues while attempting to register for a permit are urged to avoid double-clicking or using the back button, as these actions may result in errors with your transaction. If issues arise while attempting to complete the registration, please exit the site and contact Transportation Services for assistance.

Students are reminded that permits are virtual and linked to the license plate provided in the parking portal.

ADA parking access, short-term parking, and permit upgrades

Students with a state-issued Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) placard who wish to purchase a supplemental parking permit for core parking access must contact the Transportation Services Office to receive access to register online for these permits. General student parking registration must be completed online prior to applying for this option and students who are requesting an upgrade for ADA access must submit a copy of the student's ADA placard ID card to the office.

Students registering for short-term permits (issued on a weekly basis) must register in person at the Transportation Services Office. Not all student permit options will be available for short-term parking.

Lot 83 impacts

As construction begins on a new on-campus student housing project, Lot 83 will experience a reduction in capacity starting in summer 2026. As a result, off-campus student overnight storage parking will be reduced by approximately 20%. This reduction will limit the number of Lot 83 permits available for students living off campus for the 2026–27 academic year and future years.

Due to the reduced availability, students who plan to keep a vehicle on campus overnight are strongly encouraged to explore alternative parking solutions.

Ahead of permit sales, students are encouraged to review a list of off-campus overnight and storage parking alternatives available on the Student Parking page of the Transportation Services website.
