UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — To accommodate the many vehicles arriving at the University Park campus during the fall 2025 semester student arrival period, the following parking adjustments will be in place beginning Monday, Aug. 18, through Sunday, Aug. 24.
University department vehicles also must be removed from the restricted areas listed below during the student arrival period.
Student parking lot closures
All core student resident parking lots (Lot 22 (Eastview Terrace), Lot 42 (Nittany Apartments), Lot 81 (South/Pollock Halls), and Lot 82 (East Halls)) will be reserved for 30-minute unloading beginning Sunday night, Aug. 17. All vehicles must be removed from these lots by midnight Sunday night.
Student permit holders for these areas must move their vehicles to Jordan East or Stadium West during the move-in period, where overnight parking will be permitted through Sunday, Aug. 24. Students who purchase permits for these areas may move back to their assigned area beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, and must park in their assigned lot by midnight that night.
Faculty/staff parking lot closures
The following faculty/staff parking areas will be reserved for student arrival unloading only from Monday, Aug. 18, through Sunday, Aug. 24:
- BROWN E: Permit holders must park at Nittany Deck, Jordan East, or Stadium West.
- GREEN C: Permit holders must park at Nittany Deck, Jordan East, or Stadium West.
- GREEN N: Permit holders must park at Nittany Deck, Jordan East, or Stadium West.
- YELLOW H (SOFTBALL, IM BUILDING, AND SECTION NEAR HASTINGS AND SNYDER HALL): Permit holders must park at other Yellow H lots, Jordan East or Stadium West.
- YELLOW J: Permit holders must park at HUB Deck, Jordan East, or Stadium West.
- YELLOW T (BOTH SECTIONS): Permit holders must park at Jordan East or Stadium West.
Note: To accommodate student arrival traffic, Burrowes Road will allow southbound traffic only between Curtin Road and Pollock Road beginning Wednesday, Aug. 20, through Saturday, Aug. 23, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
In addition to the above-mentioned lot closures, please note the following impacts to the East Deck/Yellow D surface lot and HUB Deck during student arrival:
Yellow D (East Deck and surface lot):
- Level 1 and level 2 of the East Deck will be reserved for student arrival unloading only from Saturday, Aug. 16, through Sunday, Aug. 24.
- The Yellow D surface lot at Tener Hall will be closed from Saturday, Aug. 16, through Sunday, Aug. 24.
- With heavy traffic expected near East Deck, there may be times when the section of Bigler Road located between Curtin Road and Park Avenue is restricted.
- Yellow D permit holders are encouraged to park at Jordan East or Stadium West.
- Hourly visitor parking at East Deck will be limited.
Yellow C (HUB Deck):
- Sections of HUB Deck parking located below the plaza level entrance will be reserved for student arrival unloading only from Monday, Aug. 18, through Sunday, Aug. 24.
- Jordan East and Stadium West will be available to Yellow C permit holders in the event the deck reaches capacity or if alternative parking is desired.
- Hourly visitor parking will be unavailable. Only YC, ADA, and those with arrival unloading permits will be allowed access.
Campus transit options
CATA's full-service schedule, to include the return of White Loop and Red Link service, will begin Monday, Aug. 18. Visit catabus.com for more information.
The Campus Shuttle via College Avenue and the Campus Shuttle via Beaver Avenue will continue to operate on their summer schedules through Friday, Aug. 22. Visit the Transportation Services website for more information.
As a result of the southbound-only traffic restriction on Burrowes Road between Curtin Road and Pollock Road, northbound CATA and Campus Shuttle stops located along Burrowes Road between College Avenue and Curtin Road will not be serviced from Wednesday, Aug. 20, through Saturday, Aug. 23. This will impact northbound stops at Reber Building, Deike Building, Hosler Building, Waring Commons and Rec Hall.
CATA will implement the following detours during this time:
- White Loop: Buses will turn right on the Curtin Road extension from Curtin Road, turn left on North Atherton, and turn left on Beaver Avenue where normal routing will resume.
- Southbound Atherton Connector: Buses will continue straight on North Atherton going southbound and turn left on Beaver Avenue where normal routing will resume.
