UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Students new to the University Park campus are encouraged to mark their calendars to join Penn State University Libraries' annual spring Open House, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 29 and 30, in Pattee Library and Paterno Library on the University Park campus. A snow makeup date is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 31, if necessary.
To complete the self-guided Open House tour, students are required to check in with their Penn State ID cards at each tour stop and engage with brief activities or presentations that offer an overview of the Libraries’ academic, research and leisure resources and services. The full tour includes eight interactive stops throughout Pattee and Paterno Libraries. Stops include:
- Read for fun
- Get creative
- Read a call number
- Start your research
- Navigate the Stacks
- Get help
- Find your subject expert
- Find primary sources
Students who complete all stops will receive a free Penn State University Libraries embroidered beanie hat, while supplies last, and an emailed certificate of completion to share with instructors. University Libraries administrators, faculty and staff volunteer at the two-day event to help students learn more about on-site and online resources available to students, and answer questions about the Libraries.
