UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State University Libraries will host a Queer and Feminist Zine Showcase on Tuesday, April 7, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Mann Assembly Room, 103 Paterno Library, on the University Park campus.

The free event invites the students to explore the history and culture of zine-making at Penn State through hands-on workshop activities and a display of work from local creators. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about zine culture, create their own zines, and share their work during the showcase.

"All are welcome to join us for an evening of creativity and community," said Salah Seoudi, Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) Librarian. "No prior experience is needed to participate, and all materials will be provided." Pizza and refreshments will also be provided to workshop participants.

Individuals who have created zines for classes, clubs, or personal projects are encouraged to submit their work in advance to be featured in the showcase and included in the University Libraries’ Special Collections. Submissions can be made via the online form by Wednesday, Apr. 1.

The showcase is co-hosted by the University Libraries, the Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS), and the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Honor Society, Triota (Iota Iota Iota). Triota is a feminist organization dedicated to community improvement through activism and education. Membership is open to all students regardless of major, minor, or semester standing.
