UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State University Libraries will sponsor two speakers on open scholarship topics in conjunction with the second Penn State Open Scholarship Boot Camp, set for Aug. 13-15 on the University Park campus.

On Wednesday, Aug. 13, Sarah Rajtmajer, associate professor of information sciences and technology at Penn State, will present “Harnessing AI for Scientific Integrity,” focusing on the use of artificial intelligence in evaluating the reproducibility of different scientific fields.

On Thursday, Aug. 14, Lynda Kellam, Snyder-Granader Director of Research Data and Digital Scholarship at the University of Pennsylvania, will speak on “Rescuing and Preserving Public Data: The Data Rescue Project.” Started in February 2025, the Data Rescue Project is a coordinated effort of three data organizations — the International Association for Social Science Information Service & Technology, the Research Data Access & Preservation Association and the Data Curation Network — to serve as a clearinghouse for data rescue-related efforts and data access points for public U.S. governmental data that is currently at risk.

Both presentations, which are free and open to the public, will be held from 10:45 a.m. to noon in Foster Auditorium, E102 Paterno Library.

Registration is not required for these speakers. Information on attending the Open Scholarship Boot Camp can be found at the website. The boot camp is sponsored by the Penn State Child Study Center, Penn State University Libraries, the Penn State Institute for Computational and Data Sciences, the Center for Social Data Analytics in the Penn State College of the Liberal Arts, the Department of Statistics in the Penn State Eberly College of Science, and the Penn State Social Sciences Research Institute.
