UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State University’s Teaching and Learning with Technology Media Commons is expanding what students and faculty can create in Studio One beginning in fall 2026. For the first time, Studio One is offering video and audio podcast creation.
The update expands Studio One beyond its original video-focused setup, giving users more flexibility in how they record and use the space. In addition to podcasts, Studio One supports interviews, presentation rehearsals, pitch videos and other teaching and learning projects.
Each updated Studio One space includes:
- Podcast creation: Record audio or video podcasts, interviews and conversational content
- Flexible and accessible recording: Adapt the space to your needs with seated or standing configurations, adjustable work surfaces and accessible on-screen controls
- Guided recording: On-screen checklists provide step-by-step visual guidance to make setup and recording simple
- Easy file delivery: Quickly access your finished recordings when your session is complete
Studio One replaced the original One Button Studio in 2025 with a redesigned interface and modern recording workflow. Its self-service application guides users through an entire session, from setup through recording and file delivery, without requiring prior production experience. The fall 2026 update is the platform’s first major feature expansion.
Studio One is available in recording studios at participating Penn State campuses. Walk-ins are accepted when a studio is available, though users are encouraged to reserve time through the Media Commons website.
