UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State students who are first-time voters during the 2026 midterm elections may understandably have questions about the voting process. On Monday, Oct. 12, noon-1 p.m., Penn State University Libraries will host a virtual Voter Workshop to help students better understand U.S. elections and build civic skills.

Participants can register on or before the Oct. 8 deadline to receive Zoom instruction on Oct. 9. The free event takes place as part of the Libraries’ Informed Consumer series.

Students will learn about Pennsylvania voting logistics including registration deadlines and voting laws. Discussion will include how to research ballot candidates and make informed decisions that represent participants’ values. Librarians will provide a judgement-free and non-partisan space to explore the importance of voting and answer any questions that participants may have.

Stay informed, for free — Penn State Students receive free digital access to premier news outlets like the News York Times and Wall Street Journal to stay connected with what’s happening locally, nationally, and globally, through the Student News Readership Program. The program allows students to click on the links to begin reading.
