UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State University Press will host “Inside Academic Publishing: Demystifying the Path from Research to Publication,” a free, Zoom-based symposium open to the University-wide community from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday, Sept. 18. Zoom registration is required.
First announced in May 2026, the afternoon symposium is designed for Penn State faculty, graduate students and recent graduates to demystify the academic publishing process and provide practical, actionable guidance for scholars seeking to publish their work. The event will be recorded and made available for those unable to attend synchronously.
Two 75-minute sessions will offer insight into key stages of publishing, from developing a proposal and navigating peer review to understanding contracts, production and dissemination. Participants should expect to complete the symposium equipped with strategies to strengthen their prospects for publication and broaden the impact of their research.
