UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Academic support units in Boucke Building on the University Park campus will be relocating during summer 2026 renovations.

Penn State Learning will have a temporary home and Undergraduate Research and Fellowships Mentoring will work remotely during summer 2026, according to the Office of Undergraduate Education. The Penn State Chaiken Center for Student Success will relocate to 102 Wagner Building for summer 2026 and the 2026-27 academic year.

Penn State Chaiken Center for Student Success

The Penn State Chaiken Center for Student Success will temporarily relocate from Boucke to 102 Wagner Building. The center will remain in 102 Wagner Building through the 2026-27 academic year. Here, students will be able to:

  • Access the School Supplies for Student Success, a closet offering free supplies to current students, opening for summer session II on July 1.
  • Meet with peer success coaches for drop-in and scheduled appointments beginning on July 1.
  • Schedule a success consultation with a staff member to discuss your next steps toward success and learn more about the academic success coaching program.

LEAP Summer Start Experience

The center also organizes the LEAP Summer Start Experience which helps first-year students transition to college by offering small classes, peer support and a close-knit learning community before the fall semester begins.

Penn State Learning

Penn State Learning, the official tutoring service at University Park, will offer only asynchronous and remote synchronous tutoring during Summer Session I. In-person tutoring will return for Summer Session II in 7 Sparks Building.

The Writing Center

The Writing Center @ Penn State Learning will be available from May 18 to June 22. Students may submit writing assignments for feedback using an asynchronous tutor request form and expect a response in 1-3 business days. From July 6 to Aug. 13, writing tutors will be available in person on Monday through Thursday afternoons from noon to 5 p.m. in 7A Sparks Building. For details and updates, visit the Writing Center @ Penn State Learning website.

Math tutoring

Math tutoring will be remote by appointment from May 26 through June 25 and in person in 7 Sparks Building from noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday afternoons from July 6 to Aug. 13. For details and updates, visit the Math Center @ Penn State Learning.

Study Smarter sessions

Penn State Learning will offer five "Study Smarter" sessions during summer 2026. These remote, interactive workshops will present research-based evidence that metacognition (awareness of how people learn and the predictable effects of the related choices they make) can help students successfully transition to the demands of college-level courses.

A core of Penn State Learning staff members will be available in 7 Sparks Building this summer. See Meet the Staff web pages or use the Contact Us web form.

Undergraduate Research and Fellowships Mentoring

Undergraduate Research and Fellowships Mentoring (URFM) staff will work remotely during summer 2026. URFM supports students as they prepare for major fellowship and scholarship opportunities, coordinates undergraduate research preparation workshops and connects undergraduates to research opportunities.
