UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center will hold two public webinars in December, on "Debt Management" and "Identity Theft."
Pittsburgh National Corporation (PNC) is Penn State’s official consumer banking partner, and a speaker from PNC will be presenting these webinars. These workshops are open to students, staff, and the community, and aim to help attendees feel confident in creating positive money management choices and creating a solid fiscal foundation.
December webinars
"Debt Management" presented by PNC: Noon–1 p.m., Dec. 2.
In this workshop, you'll learn to build a budget that helps pay down your debt, explore different debt management strategies, and create a personal plan for reducing your debt and improving your credit score. There is an added discussion on the difference between good debt and bad debt and see how your credit score affects how much interest you pay.
"Identity Theft" presented by PNC: Noon–1 p.m., Dec. 16.
In this workshop, you'll learn how identity thieves can steal your personal information and what's at risk when they do. We'll look at examples of different types of scams, including phishing, phone, and elder fraud scams. There will be a showcase on how to spot them and how to protect yourself from becoming a victim. And if your identity is or has been compromised, we'll show you what to do next to repair the damage.
Save the dates
