UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Relationship Violence Outreach, Intervention, and Community Education (R-VOICE) Center, a unit in the division of Penn State Student Affairs, in collaboration with the Interfraternity Council (IFC), will host the annual Men Against Violence Walk on Wednesday, Apr. 30, at 6 p.m. This event invites men and allies across campus and the community to take a stand against sexual violence and affirm their commitment to creating a safer, more respectful community.
Check-in for the walk will begin at 6 p.m. at the steps of Old Main on University Park campus. All participants will have the opportunity to make signs and gather on the Old Main lawn prior to the start of the walk. The event will walk through campus and is designed to raise awareness and foster visible support for sexual assault prevention efforts at Penn State.
“Sexual violence prevention and advocacy work doesn’t happen alone, it happens when communities come together to challenge harmful norms and shift the culture,” said Jacob Frank, program coordinator, peer education and men’s engagement. “The Men Against Violence Walk is one way we show up, speak out, and change our culture together.”
All students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to attend. While male participation is emphasized, all are encouraged to join the walk and support the message that ending sexual violence is everyone’s responsibility. Post-walk snacks will be available, courtesy of IFC, back at the steps of Old Main.
