UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Votes has launched "Ballot Buddies," a new volunteer program designed to help increase student voter participation across campus through nonpartisan outreach and peer engagement.

The initiative is offered in partnership with Penn State Votes, the University’s trusted, nonpartisan source for voting information and civic engagement resources. "Ballot Buddies" will support efforts to ensure students are informed about how, when and where to vote while encouraging participation in local, state and national elections.

Student volunteers will receive training to assist with nonpartisan voter-engagement initiatives, including sharing official election information, promoting available voting resources and helping peers navigate common voting questions. Responsibilities are designed to be flexible to accommodate student schedules, requiring approximately one hour of volunteer service per week.

The program is open to students of all majors and class years who are interested in civic engagement, community outreach and strengthening democratic participation on campus.

Students interested in becoming "Ballot Buddies" can sign up to receive training and volunteer information on the Penn State Votes website.

By expanding peer-to-peer outreach, the "Ballot Buddies" program aims to make voting information more accessible and empower students to take an active role in civic life.

Penn State Votes provides comprehensive guidance on voter registration, mail-in and absentee ballots, polling locations, election deadlines and answers to frequently asked questions. Additional information and resources are available at psuvotes.psu.edu.
