UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Grab a spoon and your running shoes. The Penn State Campus Recreation Ice Cream Mile returns at noon on Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Intramural Fields for a race featuring Penn State Berkey Creamery ice cream, music, entertainment and more.
Since it started in 2022, the Ice Cream Mile has become a fall tradition for Campus Recreation and has grown each year. Participants run a lap, stop to eat a cup of ice cream, and repeat the sequence over the course of the mile. Final times include both running and ice cream eating.
This year’s event will feature a DJ providing music and entertainment, along with inflatable activities for participants to enjoy before the race begins.
The Ice Cream Mile is open to anyone age 18 and older, including Penn State University Park students, Campus Recreation members, and community members. Registration is $10 and includes an Ice Cream Mile T-shirt and a finisher sticker. T-shirts are guaranteed for preregistered participants while supplies last, and sizes are limited.
