UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Campus Recreation will offer a free two-week membership trial to University Park faculty and staff starting in January. The trial allows access to all Campus Recreation facilities — the Intramural (IM) Building, White Building, Hepper Fitness Center and McCoy Natatorium — and amenities like the weight rooms, climbing walls, pools and workout classes.
Amenities that require an additional fee, such as access to a personal trainer, are not part of the trial. Faculty and staff can begin their two-week window anytime after Jan. 1 by visiting the Campus Recreation website, selecting the memberships tab, and entering the code 'TryBeforeYouBuy'. Interested faculty and staff can also redeem their trial by visiting the sales window at the Intramural Building.
Associate Director of Membership Outreach Heather Foster said the goal of the membership trial is to encourage and support faculty and staff in their fitness journeys.
“[We encourage] faculty and staff to focus on their own wellness and well-being. Exercise and focusing on your health and well-being is really important to your mental health and happiness at home,” Foster said.
Campus Recreation memberships cost $50 per month, $95 per semester or $230 per year. The IM Building offers a faculty and staff exclusive locker room with personal lockers available for $75 a semester with included towel service. Faculty and staff who purchase a membership can also sign up for payroll deduction by visiting the Intramural Building Sales Window.
Those with additional questions or interest in touring fitness facilities can contact Campus Recreation, a unit of Student Affairs, via email at CampusRec@psu.edu.
