UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Campus Recreation is introducing a new wellness space for members, the "Recharge & Roar" (R&R) Lounge. This space officially opened Aug. 25 and is located on the main floor of the Intramural (IM) Building. The 760-square-foot lounge provides innovative tools for recovery, relaxation and personal well-being.
The R&R Lounge includes two Hydromassage Lounge G3 chairs, a CryoLounge+ cold and heat pod, and three 3Sages wellness stations. Each 3Sages station features a 55-inch touchscreen TV with guided relaxation modules, a Zero Gravity Chair, and Hyperice therapy guns. Students may also check out noise-canceling headphones to enhance the restorative experience.
Campus Recreation staff will host an open house for the new space on Friday, Sept. 19, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
“We’re thrilled to unveil our newly transformed wellness space — an innovative reimagining of the former racquetball court. This transformed space features a state-of-the-art hydromassage station and dedicated meditation areas,” said Steve Kampf, senior director of Campus Recreation. “This project was made possible through the support of the University Park Fee Board, and we’re deeply grateful for their investment in our students' well-being. This new space reflects our ongoing commitment to creating environments that support holistic health and stress relief for our campus community.”
All University Park students who pay the student fee also have a Campus Recreation membership included, giving them access to the R&R Lounge and all other Campus Recreation facilities. Drop in and experience the new relaxation tools, and take time to talk with the staff who will be on hand to guide students through the lounge features — no reservations needed. Those who are unable to attend the open house can stop by the R&R Lounge during its hours of operation:
- Monday-Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and 3 to 8 p.m.
- Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and 3 to 6 p.m.
- Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m.
At the end of September, Campus Recreation members will be able to reserve R&R lounge time by visiting the Campus Recreation app. Faculty and staff who would like to take advantage of the R&R Lounge can email campusrec@psu.edu to learn more about membership options.
