Spisak Lecture and Lunch with Professor Hau Lee on March 27 — 'The Supply Chain Research-Practice Cycle'
12:00 AM - 1:30 PM / March 27, 2026
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Kevin Linderman, chair of the Department of Supply Chain and Information Systems, and Aydin Alptekinoglu, professor of supply chain management, will welcome Professor Hau Lee, the Thoma Professor of Operations, Information and Technology, Emeritus, Stanford Graduate School of Business, for this year's Spisak Lecture, "The Supply Chain Research-Practice Cycle."
Lee will share how, in the supply chain, research impacts can be much greater if the research is grounded by practice. Often, interesting and valuable research comes from ideas or experiences in practice. The research results are applied in practice, which generates new insights and observations. These, in turn, become inputs to new research, and the cycle goes on and on. In his talk, he will use some of his personal research experiences to illustrate the importance of this research-practice cycle. Smeal faculty and doctoral students are invited to join this event.
