DUNMORE, Pa. — Starting college can bring a mix of excitement and nerves, and student leaders play a key role in helping first-year students navigate that transition. As part of Penn State Scranton’s efforts to welcome the class of 2030, it is introducing its New Student Orientation (NSO) Program leaders through a series of Q&As.
Orientation leader Paige Geisler
Paige Geisler is a third-year student majoring in mechanical engineering.
Q: Why did you choose Penn State Scranton?
Geisler: I chose Penn State Scranton because of the relationships that we can build with our professors due to smaller class sizes.
Q: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to new students?
Geisler: Get involved! Clubs build relationships and a great college experience.
Q: Why should new students get involved on campus?
Geisler: THON!
Q: What’s one must-have item or life hack for surviving your first year of college?
Geisler: A planner, it holds you accountable as a student.
Q: What’s been your favorite Penn State Scranton memory so far?
Geisler: THON Weekend is my favorite, it's the most unique Penn State event of the year.
Q: How has being an NSO Leader impacted your college experience?
Geisler: It connects us to the incoming class and gives them a friendly face to go to when they come in the fall.
Q: What’s one thing you wish you knew before starting college?
Geisler: I wish I knew how valuable every relationship is, especially with professors. There are opportunities everywhere, including a Gen-Ed professor.
New Student Orientation
