DUNMORE, Pa. — Four students at Penn State Scranton have been inducted into Sigma Beta Delta, the international honor society for business, management and administration, in recognition of their academic achievement, leadership and commitment to ethical standards.

The newly inducted members are Christian Dructor, Sophia Guerriero, Kalyssa Shedd and Conner Sheruda. All four students met the rigorous eligibility requirements established by Sigma Beta Delta, which include advanced academic standing, a strong record of involvement beyond the classroom and a demonstrated commitment to academic integrity.

To qualify for membership, students must be at least sixth-semester standing and rank in the top 10% of their grade-point average (GPA) at their institution. Candidates are also required to show sustained engagement in extracurricular or leadership activities and must have no academic integrity violations on record. Because of these standards, invitations to join Sigma Beta Delta are highly selective and reflect the organization’s mission to recognize excellence and professionalism in business education.

Sigma Beta Delta was established in 1994 and continues a more than 200-year tradition of recognizing academic excellence in higher education.

Internationally, Sigma Beta Delta has grown into a large and well-respected academic organization. The honor society includes more than 400 chapters across 47 states as well as several international locations. Its membership exceeds 80,000 individuals, including students, alumni and faculty who have demonstrated outstanding scholastic achievement in business, management and administration.

On a global level, Sigma Beta Delta typically recognizes students who rank in the top 20% of their class and who demonstrate strong engagement in activities that support professional development, leadership and service.

Membership in Sigma Beta Delta provides students with opportunities for professional networking, leadership development and continued recognition of their academic achievements as they prepare for careers or graduate study in business-related fields.
