SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. — Gabriel Kamarousky, a healthcare executive with more than two decades of experience, will deliver the commencement address at Penn State Schuylkill’s Friday ceremony at 7 p.m. on May 8, in the campus gymnasium.

The Friday ceremony is one of two commencements planned for the weekend and will celebrate graduates in the nursing and radiological sciences programs. An additional ceremony will be held Saturday, May 9, to recognize graduates from all other programs.

Kamarousky is a 1996 graduate of North Schuylkill Jr.-Sr. High School and went on to attend Mansfield University, where he played collegiate football and later served as an assistant coach. He earned an associate degree in radiologic sciences in 2000 and a bachelor’s degree in business in 2001, and later completed a Master of Business Administration from Alvernia University in 2012.

He began his career as a CAT scan technologist at the University of Pennsylvania Health System and advanced through clinical education and senior operations leadership roles at Reading Hospital, Schuylkill Health and Lehigh Valley Health Network.

In 2018, Kamarousky was appointed president of Geisinger St. Luke’s on behalf of St. Luke’s University Health Network and played a key role in establishing a joint-venture partnership between Geisinger Health System and St. Luke’s University Health Network. The collaboration led to the construction of the first hospital built in Schuylkill County in nearly 90 years.

Under his leadership, the campus has grown to more than 550 employees and has earned regional and national recognition for patient safety and quality, including an “A” rating for patient safety and a five-star CMS designation for patient experience and quality. The organization has also invested more than $100 million in the Schuylkill and Berks County region, expanding access to specialty care services.

Interim Chancellor Cory Scherer said Kamarousky’s professional experience and regional impact make him a fitting speaker for the ceremony.

“We are honored to welcome Gabriel Kamarousky as one of our commencement speakers,” Scherer said. “His leadership in health care and commitment to improving access and quality of care in our region reflect the values we strive to instill in our graduates. I am confident his message will resonate with our students as they begin their careers.”

Kamarousky resides in Cressona with his wife, Lynn, and their two sons. He is actively involved in the community, serving on several boards, including Penn State Schuylkill, the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce and the Schuylkill Economic Development Corporation.

Penn State Schuylkill’s commencement ceremonies will recognize graduates from the campus’s associate and bachelor’s degree programs, celebrating their academic achievements and the beginning of their next chapter.
