SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. — On April 14, 23 students at Penn State Schuylkill were recognized for their accomplishments in the field of communication studies throughout the 2024-25 school year at the annual Communication Recognition Ceremony.

Students received certificates and flowers for each of their accomplishments, including presenting research at a conference, being a member of the Lambda Pi Eta honor society, and graduating with a bachelor of arts in corporate communication or a minor in communication arts and sciences; communication arts and mass media; or corporate communication. Graduating Lambda Pi Eta members also received their honors cords for graduation.

The ceremony took place in the John E. Morgan Auditorium, where friends and family gathered to celebrate the honorees. It was also live streamed via Zoom for those who were unable to attend the event in person. The ceremony was led by Valerie Schrader, professor of communication arts and sciences, and Janelle Gruber, lecturer and program coordinator of corporate communication, who spoke about each student’s accomplishments that year.

“We are so proud of all of our communication students,” Schrader said. “Collectively, this group presented 37 projects at two different conferences and won 4 top paper or top poster awards. They’ve participated in activities and fundraising efforts for our Lambda Pi Eta chapter, and they’ve worked hard to complete their major or minor in communication. They’re an impressive group of students, and we know they’re going to go on to do amazing things.”
