SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. — Art Space at Penn State Schuylkill will feature “The Art of the Tattoo,” an exhibition presented by Altered Ego Tattoos that explores tattooing as an art form and the creative relationship between artist and client.

“The Art of the Tattoo” will be on display at Art Space from Oct. 12 through Dec. 11. The gallery is located in room 100 of the Classroom Building and is open to the public. The "Meet the Artists" reception will take place Oct. 15, offering visitors an opportunity to meet the artists and learn more about their work and creative processes.

“The Art of the Tattoo” looks beyond the finished tattoo to explore the creative process behind the work. The exhibition will examine the history and evolution of tattooing, showcase the stories and artwork of clients, and highlight how different artists can approach the same idea in distinct ways.

The exhibition features the work of Brandi Dalton, Rachael Dait and Jackie M., artists from Altered Ego Tattoos.

Dalton has been tattooing since 1998 and founded Altered Ego Tattoos in 2006. Her work is influenced by realism, nature, symbolism and the darker side of art.

Dait joined Altered Ego in 2015 and has played an important role in the studio’s evolution. Her work reflects her individual artistic perspective while embracing the collaborative nature of the tattoo process.

Jackie M., an artist and apprentice at Altered Ego, brings a multidisciplinary background to tattooing, drawing inspiration from fine art, sculpture, woodworking and other creative mediums.

Together, the three artists invite viewers to consider tattooing not simply as something placed on the body, but as a collaborative and evolving art form shaped by history, individuality, interpretation and the stories of the people who wear it.
