<![CDATA[ Placenta assessment tool aims to improve neonatal, maternal care ]]> A multi-national, multi-institutional team led by Penn State researchers developed a new tool that enables doctors to examine placentas right at the bedside using just a phone. The tool could make placental examination more accessible, saving lives and improving health outcomes, the team said.

<![CDATA[ Altoona nursing students participate in ‘Anyone Can Help Awareness Fair’ ]]> The 22 nursing majors included members of the Altoona chapter of Student Nurses Association of Pennsylvania and students enrolled in the Community and Family nursing course. They conducted blood pressure screenings and provided interactive game for attendees to test their knowledge of CPR, AED use and other life-saving measures.

<![CDATA[ Can a positive outlook on aging lead to better cognitive performance? ]]> A new study by Penn State researchers found that people who had more positive expectations of aging tended to report less frequent cognitive problems, such as difficulty concentrating or keeping track of what they were doing. They were also less likely to report that their cognitive performance had declined over time.
