Penn State Global to hold multiple events for students to explore study abroad

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — As the fall semester begins, Penn State Global is hosting several opportunities to learn more about education abroad and explore options for studying abroad during spring 2027.

Throughout the next several weeks, students can connect with education abroad advisers and student peer advisers, learn about education abroad programs and the application process, and get answers to questions about studying abroad. Whether students are just beginning to consider a global experience or are already looking for a spring 2027 education abroad program, Penn State Global staff are available to help.

Education Abroad Open House: Aug. 24 – Aug. 28

University Park students are invited to visit Penn State Global during the first week of classes for the Education Abroad Open House from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, through Friday, Aug. 28, in 420 Boucke Building.

The open house is an opportunity for students to stop by the Penn State Global office, meet education abroad staff, and learn more about study abroad opportunities available to Penn State students. Students who have never visited the fourth floor of Boucke are especially encouraged to come see the office — but those who are already familiar with Penn State Global are welcome, too.

No appointment is necessary. Students can drop in to talk with an education abroad adviser, ask questions about programs, scholarships, and the application process, and grab a snack while they are there.

CIEE Taste of Study Abroad: Aug. 26

In partnership with CIEE Study Abroad, Penn State Global will host A Taste of Study Abroad from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26, on the Millennium Science Complex Lawn at University Park.

The interactive event gives students a chance to learn more about education abroad while enjoying internationally inspired treats. Penn State education abroad advisers will be available to discuss study abroad opportunities, answer questions, and help students begin thinking about where a global experience could fit into their Penn State education.

This year’s selection of treats will include alfajores, churros, macarons, pastel de nata, matcha custard buns, and black sesame buns, representing flavors from Latin America, Europe, and Asia.

CIEE is a long-time education abroad partner of Penn State Global, offering study abroad opportunities around the globe that are open to all academic majors.

All members of the Penn State community are welcome to stop by, grab a treat, and discover how study abroad can become part of their academic journey.

Spring 2027 Education Abroad Webinar: Aug. 31

Students from all Penn State campuses can join the Penn State Education Abroad team for a virtual information session at 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, to learn more about opportunities to study abroad during the spring 2027 semester. The webinar will cover how to explore program options, navigate the application process, and find scholarships and other funding opportunities. Students will also have an opportunity to ask questions and connect with an education abroad adviser.

The webinar is open to students at all Penn State campuses and may be especially helpful for students who are not based at University Park and cannot attend the upcoming in-person events. The session will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. via Zoom, and registration is required.

Explore Education Abroad on the Boucke Lawn: Sept. 2

With the spring 2027 application deadline approaching, students can continue exploring their options at Explore Education Abroad on the Boucke Lawn from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2 at University Park. The event will take place in the green space directly outside the Boucke Building.

Education abroad advisers and student peer advisers will be available to talk with students about the variety of opportunities available to Penn State students and share their own experiences with education abroad.

The event is an opportunity for students to ask questions before the final deadline for spring 2027 study abroad, which is Sept. 10.

Spring 2027 application deadline: Sept. 10

The final deadline to apply for Penn State education abroad programs for spring 2027 semester is Sept. 10, 2026. More than 75 education abroad programs are still accepting applications, providing students with opportunities to study in destinations around the world during the spring semester.

The education abroad application process is detailed online, and students can complete a brief scholarship questionnaire as part of their application to study abroad. Students who are eligible for a Federal Pell Grant are guaranteed a scholarship to support their education abroad experience.

Penn State education abroad advisers are available to help students explore programs, understand requirements, consider how a program may fit into their academic plans, and navigate the application process.
