WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Pennsylvania College of Technology welcomed Shannon Massey, senior vice president of Lycoming Engines, to its Board of Directors. Massey was appointed to the Penn College Board by the Corporation for Penn State. She attended her first board meeting on Oct. 9.
Massey is responsible for the strategic direction of Lycoming Engines, the only U.S. owned and operated aviation piston engine manufacturer. She also serves as a member of the Textron Systems executive leadership team. Massey’s career spans 30 years in various roles within Textron Inc., including vice president of quality and for assembly operations at Bell.
Penn College and Lycoming Engines share a strong, decades-long partnership, recognized on campus through the Lycoming Engines Metal Trade Center facility. Penn College hosts the Lycoming Piston Engine Service School, which serves the company’s international customer base. Additionally, more than 25% of Lycoming’s workforce are Penn College graduates. Lycoming also supports scholarships and the Baja SAE program and utilizes Penn College Workforce Development training programs.
Massey engages as a community business partner, encouraging private and public partnership collaboration and investments at multiple levels. She serves on the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce board of directors, is a former board member and vice chair of Team PA, and currently serves on its Manufacturing Competitiveness Cross-Sector Collaborative. Massey was honored to receive the YWCA 2023 Women of Excellence award in STEM.
Massey holds a master’s degree in business administration from Texas Christian University and a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Texas A&M University.
