WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – More than 140 students have petitioned to graduate from Pennsylvania College of Technology following the Summer 2025 sessions.
A commencement ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Journey Bank Community Arts Center, with 89 students expected to march in the proceedings. The ceremony is for graduates and ticketed guests. A livestream broadcast will be offered on the commencement website.
The student speaker is Whendy Marshall-Magallon, of York, who will receive a combined Bachelor/Master of Science degree in physician assistant studies. She will also receive the Russell M. Trapp Professionalism Award, presented to a graduate who exemplifies ideals consistent with the physician assistant profession as exhibited by exceptional commitment, comportment and attitude.
Marshall-Magallon was born in Oaxaca, Mexico and came to the United States when she was 7 years old. She completed several internships as part of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at Harrisburg Area Community College, where she received an associate degree and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, National Honor Society. Her clinical experience included time at the Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center, Lititz; Tristan Associates – Partners in Women’s Healthcare, Lemoyne; Good Samaritan Health System, Lebanon; and WellSpan Health, York, where she was employed as an ultrasound technologist until December 2021, when she enrolled in the physician assistant program at Penn College.
President Michael J. Reed will confer degrees upon the graduates. Video remarks from the Penn College Board of Directors will be provided by state Sen. Gene Yaw, board chair.
