WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Beginning July 1, the Community Arts Center – owned and operated by Pennsylvania College of Technology – will be known as Journey Bank Community Arts Center.
The renaming of the celebrated regional performing arts venue – which is to remain in place for 10 years – will be heralded with a new marquee, with installation expected to be completed by early August. Temporary signage will reflect the Arts Center’s new name until then.
A celebration to launch the relationship among Penn College, the Community Arts Center and Journey Bank was held on June 14, featuring participation from college and Arts Center staff and the bank’s team members, including board members and their families.
In May 2024, the college issued a request for naming-rights proposals to help it continue to meet the Arts Center’s economic, cultural and community-focused mission – while potentially reaching an even wider audience. The historic 2,100-seat facility at 220 W. Fourth St. has attracted some 2 million patrons for high-quality professional performances by nearly 2,000 artists from around the world since its opening in 1993 in the completely renovated and restored former Capitol Theatre.
The Journey Bank Community Arts Center is the largest cultural facility in northcentral Pennsylvania, serving as an economic driver for the hospitality, travel and tourism industries, as well as a recruiting tool for local business and industry.
Over the course of the 10-year relationship, Journey Bank will benefit from extensive signage placement (including the digital marquee at the main entrance), logo presence throughout the facility, acknowledgement in news and marketing efforts in various platforms, promotion during public events, and corporate use of the facility, when available.
“We are pleased to partner with Journey Bank in support of the newly named Journey Bank Community Arts Center,” said Penn College President Michael J. Reed. “Journey Bank’s sponsorship is important for the long-term sustainability efforts of the Arts Center and will help us continue to provide exceptional performing arts in our community. We look forward to a long and successful relationship.”
“We believe strong communities are built on access – to education, to the arts, and to opportunity,” said Lance Diehl, president and CEO of Journey Bank. “Partnering with the Community Arts Center aligns with our mission to invest in programs and initiatives that uplift and energize the towns and people we serve.”
