WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – An industry leader has extended its long-standing commitment to the polymer engineering program at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
Novatec Inc. – the largest U.S.-owned manufacturer of resin conveying, drying and complete material-handling systems for the plastics processing industry – has renewed for two years its entrustment of resources used by polymer students. The equipment includes a desiccant-free dryer, a micro blender, vacuum loaders, a feeder, a venturi loader for a blender and a NovaWheel dry/convey unit. The value of the entrusted equipment is about $50,000.
“Novatec’s continued support of our polymer engineering program and students is deeply appreciated,” said Shanin L. Dougherty, senior corporate relations officer. “Their generous entrustment allows our students to work with advanced technology that will set them apart in the workforce.”
Novatec’s entrustment agreement originated in 2010. The company is a member of the Visionary Society ($100,000-$499,999) on the college’s Donor Wall.
“Penn College has one of the nation’s premier polymer programs, and Novatec is proud to continue supporting the hands-on education that prepares their students to become future leaders in our industry,” said Tim Noggle, senior vice president of sales. “By providing advanced conveying and drying equipment, Novatec helps ensure graduates enter the workforce with real-world experience using the same technologies plastics processors rely on every day.”
Penn College’s associate degree in plastics technology and bachelor’s degree in plastics & polymer engineering technology (recently renamed polymer technology and polymer engineering technology, respectively) are accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET. Graduates have an overall job placement rate of 100%.
