WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Students in the diesel technology major at Pennsylvania College of Technology are benefiting from the donation of a Mack truck from Bergey’s Truck Centers.

The truck, a 2018 Mack CXU613, will give students additional hands-on experience related to their major, further boosting their real-world skills.

“The support we receive from Bergey’s is top notch,” said Jeremy R. Bell, instructor and co-department head of diesel technology. “Without companies like them stepping up and seeing the value in our programs, we would be hard pressed to fill our labs with some of the latest technology in the truck industry. It is awesome when our employers see the great young men and women that are graduating from our programs and continue to support us.”

A strong supporter of Penn College’s diesel technology program, Bergey’s Truck Centers is a sponsor of the Diesel Performance Club’s Mack drag truck racing efforts and a sponsor of the college’s Diesel Technology Competition, attracting career and technical education center students to campus.

Bergey’s also is part of the college’s Corporate Tomorrow Makers program, a collaboration between Penn College and organizations who share a passion for hands-on learning that prepares skilled employees for in-demand careers.

“The Bergey team is excited to be able to have the opportunity to donate quality equipment to the Penn College diesel program,” said Don Evans, aftermarket service and training solutions specialist with Bergey’s Truck Centers. “I believe it is everyone’s shared goal and dream to give the students the best opportunity when it comes to developing their education for their future.”

“Penn College helps create some of the best new diesel technicians, and Bergey’s is thrilled to be a part of helping the college continue to do just that,” Evans added. “We look forward to continuing our relationship with both the college and the students and are excited to see the future technicians as they approach their careers in the field.”

Bergey’s Truck Centers is a commercial truck dealership with 26 truck center locations across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland. It is part of the Bergey Corporation, a fifth-generation, family-owned-and-operated company focused in the trucking and automotive industries with over 50 locations and more than 100 years in business that began in 1924 in a humble garage in Franconia.
