Students invited to give back to Pa. communities during spring break, March 9-13

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State students from all campuses are invited to give back during spring break the week of March 9-13 by participating in community-based service opportunities in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.

The service days offer meaningful civic and experiential learning opportunities for students looking to support their communities, according to Justin Aglio, associate vice president for Penn State Outreach and executive director of the Readiness Institute at Penn State.

“Students will learn how mission-driven organizations in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia operate and will get the opportunity to explore nonprofit and public service careers through discussions with experienced professionals,” Aglio said. “The service projects are designed to give students the experiential, place-based learning that will prepare them for a future that includes civic engagement.”

Students can volunteer with a Pittsburgh- or Philadelphia-based nonprofit working to address community needs related to food insecurity, environmental sustainability or neighborhood revitalization.
