UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State is asking faculty, staff and program leaders across the commonwealth to update their submissions to the Penn State Community Impact Map by Oct. 15, to help ensure the map continues to reflect the University’s real-world impact across Pennsylvania.

Launched just a year ago, the interactive map has logged more than 2,600 activities and 25 million engagements, showcasing everything from summer camps and CPR trainings to entrepreneurship programs and community events. The map is designed to help everyday Pennsylvanians see how Penn State is making a difference in their neighborhoods.

Individuals who have submitted an activity must review it and make updates to reflect participation numbers for the 2024-25 academic year. Note that the review is required for the submission to remain active on the map.

Steps to review and submit new data:

  • Log into the Penn State Community Impact Map Activities Dashboard.
  • Review and update all previously submitted entries as needed to reflect participation numbers for the 2024–25 academic year.
  • Resubmit all entries, even unchanged ones, to keep them live on the map.
  • Coordinate with co-owners to avoid duplicate submissions for shared activities.

Penn State campuses, colleges, units, departments, centers and institutes are encouraged to submit new activities that reflect outreach and community engagement efforts. Examples include Beescape, K-12 summer camps, Relay for Life events, community CPR trainings and LaunchBox initiatives.

Submissions are reviewed and added to the map on a rolling basis. For help or more information, visit the data submission guidelines page or email communityimpactmap@psu.edu.
