UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — WPSU is launching a new season of "Culinary Connections," featuring restaurateurs using food as the pathway to connect people and places.
One of the latest episodes features Café Laura at Penn State's University Park campus, where hospitality management students plan, market, prepare and serve a memorable dining experience for the community.
“I think we set a pretty good standard, and our goal is that we get better every week. That’s all I ask of them is that we get better with every single thing we do, every single week,” said George Ruth, associate teaching professor for the School of Hospitality Management in the College of Health and Human Development.
Other episodes travel across the WPSU viewing and listening area to meet culinary artists in Cambria, Clearfield and McKean counties.
“I know what all my customers like already, I don’t even have to write it down. I know everybody in town. I’ve lived here all my life, so they’re friends and family,” said Mary Bernhard, owner of Pepe’s Pizzeria and Bistro in Kane, Pennsylvania.
Each episode of Culinary Connections will air on WPSU and also can be viewed online.
