UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center will hold two public webinars in August with “Paying for College” at noon Aug. 13 and “Student Loans” at noon Aug. 27.

The “Paying for College” webinar is designed to assist current and prospective students and parents in navigating the complexities of college expenses. Participants will receive guidance on completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and gain insights into various funding sources, such as scholarships, grants and federal and private loans. It will explore practical strategies for saving on education costs and discuss what students need to do to remain eligible for financial aid. By empowering themselves with a strong understanding of financial aid processes, students can make well-informed decisions throughout their college journey.

The “Student Loans” webinar will explore the entire lifecycle of the student loans process from initial borrowing to repayment. This webinar will cover steps to take before borrowing, the financial aid timeline, different types of student loans and loan limits, repayment plans and insights into various loan forgiveness programs. Participants will gain important knowledge to help them feel confident in their student loan decisions.

A list of webinars open to the public, including the series’ Zoom registration link, can be found at the program's website.

Self-study modules are available here from “MoneyCounts: A Penn State Financial Literacy Series.”
