UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing has announced this year’s annual WE LEAD Inspirational Leader Speaker Lecture. The event will be held on Friday, March 21, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Penn Stater Conference Center and Hotel. Whether attending in person or virtually, registration is required.

The event’s keynote speaker features Bernadette Melnyk, Ohio State University faculty emeritus, presenting "Evidence-Based Practice Plus Nurse/Clinician Well-Being: The Secret Sauce for Improving Healthcare Quality and Safety."

Melnyk is recognized nationally and globally for both her clinical knowledge and her innovative approaches to a wide range of health care challenges. There will be an additional Q&A session at the end of the presentation.

Additional presentations will be given by Kelly Wolgast, associate teaching professor and assistant dean for Outreach and Professional Development, presenting " Remembering Clara Barton: A Leader who Demonstrated Creativity and Courage."

2.0 contact hours are available for registered attendees, with 1 contact hour being awarded per speaker.

Additionally, the event will invite attendees to participate in a wellness activity. A free yoga session will be led by Latisha Franklin, a Penn State biochemistry doctoral graduate and yoga instructor. However, space is limited for the yoga session, so early registration is encouraged.

"Dr. Melnyk is a prominent expert leader in nursing, evidence-based practice, and wellness," Wolgast said. Her presence will inspire and amplify the importance of evidence-based practice in combination with wellbeing as essential in nursing practice. Our students will remember this engagement with Dr. Melnyk well into the future."
