CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — Changes to federal student aid programs are prompting many Lehigh Valley families to take a fresh look at how they will pay for college. Penn State Lehigh Valley is encouraging students and parents to begin those conversations early by offering personalized financial aid counseling and affordable pathways to earning a nationally recognized Penn State degree close to home.
While federal student aid programs continue to evolve, Penn State Lehigh Valley remains committed to helping students understand their options and make informed decisions about financing their education. Students continue to have access to federal and state grants, scholarships, work-study opportunities and loan programs, along with individualized guidance from the campus Office of Student Aid.
"The financial aid process has become more complex, but families shouldn't assume college is out of reach before exploring all of their options," said Scott Semerod, financial aid specialist at Penn State Lehigh Valley. "Every student's financial situation is unique. We work one-on-one with students and their families to explain the process, review available resources and develop a financial plan that makes a Penn State education as affordable as possible."

Penn State has also developed updated resources to help students understand recent changes to federal student aid programs and encourages students to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as early as possible while remaining in contact with financial aid staff throughout the process.
