CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — Current students from Penn State’s Commonwealth Campuses, Lehigh Carbon, Northampton and Bucks County Community Colleges are invited to attend the third annual Business, Technology, and Engineering Career Fair at Penn State Lehigh Valley on Oct. 23 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event is free of charge and will be held in Room 135, the Nittany Station Café and in Centre Hall.

Company representatives from sectors as diverse as manufacturing, health care, IT, retail and engineering will be available to speak with students about full- and part-time opportunities, as well as internships. Air Products, Good Shepherd, Crayola, St. Luke’s, Lehigh Valley Health Network/Jefferson Health, Bosch, Olympus, Lutron, Merck and Volvo/Mack are among the companies confirmed for the event.

Kellie Provost-Brown, Penn State Lehigh Valley career specialist and event co-organizer, said the career fair is open to all majors.

“We want students to take advantage of the opportunities available at these local companies,” she said. “All majors are encouraged to attend the fair because there are a range of roles available."

Provost-Brown explained that the event is titled "Career Fair" because it emphasizes the various hiring timelines within an organization.

“Employers want to have a presence on campus so that when they are ready to hire, they have a pool of candidates to choose from," Provost-Brown said. "The fair provides first-year students a chance to learn about possible career paths without having to actively search for an internship.”

The addition of the four-year engineering degree at Lehigh Valley has broadened the scope of the career fair, according to Mark M. Capofari, assistant teaching professor and program coordinator, project and supply chain management, and event co-organizer.

“I’m certain the engineering degree has encouraged some new companies to attend, which also opens opportunities for students in other disciplines," Capofari said. "We’ve had a lot of employers return to our campus for this event each year, which speaks to the quality of students they have engaged with and hired.”

Attendees should dress in business professional attire and bring copies of their resumes. A Career Closet featuring a variety of professional apparel for men and women is available to help students in their career apparel search.

"It's crucial that we help our students present themselves professionally," Provost said. "Over 100 items were selected from our Career Closet in September."

Pre-registration for the Business, Technology, and Engineering Career Fair is highly encouraged. Students who register before Oct. 22 will receive the employer list, including the roles those employers are looking to fill, and will also be entered into a drawing.

Student registration may be found on the Penn State Lehigh Valley website
