UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — With a 7-0 win over Delaware on Jan. 24 at Pegula Ice Arena, the No. 4-ranked Penn State women's ice hockey team clinched its fourth straight regular season championship in the Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) conference.
Penn State joins Mercyhurst as the only teams in conference history to win the regular season four years or more in a row.
The NIttany Lions will have home ice advantage for the entire AHA postseason beginning in February.
Earlier in the weekend, Head Coach Jeff Kampersal won his 500th career game as a head coach after Penn State's 5-0 over Delaware on Jan. 23 at Pegula Ice Arena. With the victory, Kampersal became the fifth women's ice hockey head coach to reach the milestone.
Kampersal is now the fourth active head coach with 500 wins behind Mark Johnson, Mike Sisti and Brad Frost.
The women's ice hockey team next will host Robert Morris at 1 p.m. on Jan. 30 at West Shore Home Field at Beaver Stadium as part of Penn State's winter weekend.
