Ideas Lab: 'AI-Powered Materials Discovery, Design and Synthesis'

10:00 AM - 3:00 PM / March 26, 2026

The Penn State Institute for Computational and Data Sciences (ICDS) is hosting "Ideas Lab: AI-Powered Materials Discovery, Design and Synthesis," a half-day event that is designed to bring together researchers with complementary expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, materials theory and experimentation, scalable computing platforms and synthesis and characterization, on Thursday, March 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in 233AB HUB-Robeson Center, University Park.

Registration is required prior to Friday, Feb. 6. Registration can be completed through this Google Form. Lunch will be provided.

This event has five main objectives: identifying high-impact research opportunities at the intersection of AI, materials discovery and synthesis; fostering new interdisciplinary research collaborations; aligning algorithms, data and infrastructure; developing concrete collaborative project concepts; seed sustained collaborations by enabling teams formed through the Ideas Lab.

Attendees will have the opportunity to listen to brief talks and participate in breakout and synthesis sessions.
