UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — All Penn State students, faculty and staff are encouraged to connect their personally owned devices, including computers, tablets and smartphones, to the "eduroam" Wi-Fi network.

In April, the Penn State Wireless project announced "eduroam" as the University’s primary Wi-Fi network. However, the retirement of the "psu" network has been shifted from June 30 to Nov. 21.

While the deadline has been extended to Nov. 21, Penn State students and employees are encouraged to move their personal devices to the "eduroam" Wi-Fi network now. If personal devices like TVs, speakers and game consoles cannot connect to "eduroam," they must be connected to the "psu-personal" network as an alternative.

For faculty and staff

  • IT staff are developing processes to deploy the new settings to University-managed devices. Once completed, employees will receive instructions from their unit’s IT Support Team on how to connect University-managed devices to the "eduroam" Wi-Fi network.
  • University-managed devices include Penn State-issued laptops, tablets and phones provided by the University for work purposes.

For students

  • Please note that the "roomgear" network in the residence halls will still be renamed to "psu-personal" on June 30.
