UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — By the end of the Fall 2025 semester, all Penn State campus locations will be mobile-first in an effort to streamline University operations and enhance campus life.
Penn State IT and the Office of Physical Security announced the transition to the mobile id+ card in January 2024. Since then, thousands of students at the Penn State Commonwealth Campuses have successfully transitioned to the mobile id+ card.
Phase two of the Mobile-First project involves collaborating with University Park and World Campus to reduce duplicate credentials. In fact, first-year students at University Park were only issued one credential this year.
The next deactivation for duplicate credentials is on Sept. 15, and applies to University Park and World Campus students only. After Sept. 15, all Penn State students should only have one credential, either the physical id+ card or mobile id+ card.
Those who haven’t already should watch this step-by-step video or follow these setup instructions to activate the mobile id+ card:
1. Use your mobile device to download the Transact eAccounts app.
2. Select “Get Started” and log into your Penn State account.
3. Add your mobile id+ card to your Apple Wallet, Google Wallet or Samsung Wallet.
