UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — IT Mentors is a year-long professional development program that pairs goal-oriented staff members with experienced colleagues from across Penn State. Through a structured mentoring relationship, participants expand their professional networks, develop leadership skills, gain organizational insight, and work toward individualized career goals.
To apply to participate, complete the 2026 IT Mentors Program Application by July 8. Full-time Penn State IT staff are eligible and encouraged to apply. Applications will close on Wednesday, July 8.
Whether participants are looking to learn from a mentor or share their experience as a mentor, the program provides opportunities to build meaningful connections across University IT and the broader Penn State community.
To participate in the 2026 program, complete this Microsoft Form by July 8 (supervisor approval must be completed by July 9).
Participants accepted into the program will:
- Attend a kickoff meeting and role-specific training
- Participate in networking opportunities with fellow mentors and mentees
- Meet regularly throughout the year with their mentoring partner
- Attend professional development sessions focused on personal and professional growth
- Reflect on and share their experiences at the conclusion of the program
Now entering its 16th year, IT Mentors has served more than 445 Penn State staff members. Many former mentees have returned to the program as mentors, helping to strengthen leadership, collaboration, and institutional knowledge throughout the University.
Key program dates:
- Application Period: June 1 - July 8
- Kickoff Meeting & Role Training: July 27
- Speed Networking Sessions: July 29, Aug. 6, and Aug. 11
- Professional Development Sessions: August through April
- Program Graduation: May 12
