UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — To streamline id+ Office operations, Penn State has announced changes to the online photo submission process and in-person service offerings at specific id+ Office locations.
Effective June 30, Commonwealth Campus id+ offices will no longer offer in-person photo appointments, but will remain open to assist with mobile id+ card activation and the physical id+ card replacement process.
Please note id+ operations at University Park will not be impacted, but the Penn State id+ Office has been relocated to the Eisenhower Parking Deck.
These changes are part of a broader effort to reduce the inventory of printers, cameras and workstations maintained at the Commonwealth Campuses, lowering licensing and maintenance costs while making overall id+ processes more efficient.
Replacement ID Cards
If students, faculty, or staff lose their physical id+ card or mobile id+ card device, they will be issued a temporary card rather than a permanent replacement. If the temporary ID card is returned, no charges will apply. However, a replacement physical id+ card will cost $20.
While the mobile id+ card remains the University's primary credential, the physical id+ card will remain available for those with approved exemptions. To learn more, visit the id+ card website.
Photo submissions
New Penn State students and employees who do not have a photo on file will be required to capture a live photo at the time of submission. Live photos can be taken using a phone, laptop or computer, to ensure a more accurate image for identification. Previously saved photo files can no longer be uploaded.
To submit a photo, visit the id+ photo submission web page or follow these steps:
- Ensure your Penn State account is enabled with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). MFA must be active before you can upload a photo. To learn more about managing your Penn State account and setting up MFA, visit accounts.psu.edu/mfa.
- Follow the id+ photo submission guidelines to submit an appropriate picture of yourself in your eAccounts Personal Information.
- Upload a picture of your valid government-issued ID.
