UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) has named Enrico Berti as its summer 2026 student marshal. He will lead the procession of IST graduates during the commencement ceremony, which will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Bryce Jordan Center.
Student marshals are selected for their outstanding academic achievements. Berti majored in information sciences and technology, design and development option. His academic honors included Phi Kappa Honor Society, Society for Collegiate Leadership and Achievements, National Society of Leadership and Success, Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society and Dean’s List.
“When I first started college, this path felt overwhelming and never-ending,” Berti said. “But knowing I was not alone was the key to my success. I can hardly believe I am finally at the end of this road.”
Berti said he is especially grateful to the Penn State faculty who made him feel valued.
“They were always there for me,” Berti said. “They celebrated my achievements and cheered me on, which provided a tremendous boost and the motivation to keep going, no matter the obstacle. Some days, the step forward is huge, and other days, it’s very small. What matters is making progress every single day.”
A native of Camerata Picena, Italy, Berti began his college journey 10 years after finishing high school, a continent away from family and friends, while starting his own family and working full-time at Loccioni, an engineering company that develops measurement technologies to improve quality, enhance safety and reduce costs in products such as cars, home appliances, energy, pharmaceuticals, aircraft, trains and more.
Throughout his tenure at Loccioni, he has cultivated relationships and strategic partnerships with healthcare systems across the United States and around the globe to advance patient care and caregiver safety through robotics, something he said he plans to continue to do after graduating.
“I’m passionate about advancing patient care and protecting those who care for others,” Berti said. “At the same time, I look forward to advancing my career, which will allow me to better provide for my family and my aging parents.”
