Eligible faculty, staff to receive annual salary increase in September pay

The increase is retroactive to July 1

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.— Penn State Human Resources (HR) is beginning the process of working with units to provide an annual salary increase (ASI) to eligible faculty and staff for fiscal year 2026-27.

The increase in pay will be reflected in eligible employees’ September paychecks, and increases will be retroactive to July 1. Employees will be able to view their ASI in Workday starting Sept. 21.

“The University’s annual salary increase reflects Penn State’s ongoing commitment to our valued employees,” said Jennifer Wilkes, vice president for Human Resources and chief human resources officer. “The effort of our employees has a real and direct impact on the lives of our students, the University and our commonwealth, and we deeply appreciate the work they do each day to make Penn State one of the world’s best universities.”

The Board of Trustees passed the 2026-27 operating budget in July 2025 to include an ASI pool to award employees with annual salary increases. Individual salary increases may be higher or lower than the approved salary pool as they are awarded based on employee performance, available funding, and unit-specific goals.

Because negotiations for a collective bargaining agreement have not yet begun, faculty are considered eligible for ASI this year, regardless of whether they are part of the new faculty bargaining unit.

Employees covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement should consult their CBA for information related to their salary increases.

The Applied Research Laboratory will follow its internal processes, which will be communicated separately to those employees.
