UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Human Resources is accepting applications for the spring and fall 2027 sessions of the Penn State Emerging Leaders (PSEL) program. The deadline to apply is Sept. 30.

PSEL is a cohort-based leadership development program designed for full-time University staff who are interested in developing their leadership skills.

PSEL is a fully virtual program that features interactive seminars, assessments and self-directed learning activities to help participants strengthen their leadership skills and define their personal leadership philosophy and development goals.

To be eligible, applicants must be a full-time employee, have at least one year in their current role, be in good standing, and cannot be a manager.

Applicants will be notified if they have been selected, and for which session, by November. Each session accepts up to 30 participants.

“Since its virtual format relaunch in 2023, we’ve had over 200 participants complete our Emerging Leaders program. It’s a great opportunity for those in non-managerial positions to foster and develop the skills necessary to become great leaders — not only in their current role, but as these individuals grow and develop in their career with Penn State,” said Christy Helms, Penn State Human Resources senior director for talent management.

The PSEL program is part of Penn State’s broader Leadership Foundations catalog of programs designed to offer learning and development resources for leaders in all stages of their career.
